HELP: Suddenly seeing a huge influx of ethernet devices on my network - ~tech - Tildes

10 comments in the discussion of this post on Tildes I noticed today that there are a large number of devices on my home network, all claiming to be ethernet connections. They kind of claimed all free IP addresses from x.x.x.63-253. They are not all on from what I have seen (and they are currently almost all off).Normally, my network should have only a handful of ethernet devices, which are my Fedora desktop, my Proxmox host, my OpenMediaVault VM on Proxmox machine running 24/7, and then the occassional VM I boot up as needed. I searched the occasional MAC address of one of these devices, and nothing came up.I am thinking that might be the case. It seemed to be causing issues last night where I could not reach some of the devices on my network properly, but once I restarted my Proxmox host, these addresses were no longer in use.mycketforvirrad added tags 'ethernet', 'tech support' and removed tags 'support', 'help', 'network' (2d ago)

My network, my self: A social network approach to work-based identity - ScienceDirect

As the organizational landscape becomes increasingly turbulent and the gig economy grows, the conventional anchors for a work-based sense of identity … We argue that a “network identity,” defined as the core, distinctive, and more or less enduring character of a set of social ties (e.g., “we are high-achievers”), helps fill this growing void because individuals’ networks often reflect agency and have more or less fluid boundaries and portability. An individual’s network identity simultaneously implicates all three levels of self – individual, relational, and collective – such that it is a potentially very powerful means for realizing his or her identity motives.Crossing the dimensions of network boundary strength and network density, we offer a 2 × 2 typology of networks and discuss their implications for members’ network identities and what kinds of individuals might prefer each network. These attributes enable individuals to develop or join networks that may transcend specific contexts and adapt to change.

How to set up a home network: An in-depth guide | NordVPN

A home network connects various devices within a household, allowing them to connect to the internet and each other. Learn how to set up your own home network. A well-established home network allows your home devices to connect to the internet seamlessly. Though the principles of setting up both wired and wireless home networks are similar, the tools used for establishing the two networks differ.A home network system is a group of devices connected to a single network and each other. These devices may be anything from computers to printers, mobile devices to game systems – basically any Internet of Things (IoT) devices you can find at home. You can connect your home network devices via cable and establish a wired connection or use Wi-Fi to set up a wireless connection. Each home network uses two types of IP addresses — private and public. A private IP address, assigned by the router, allows devices to communicate with each other within your home network. Meanwhile, your internet service provider gives you a public IP address so that your router can use it to communicate with the wider public net.The way to set up a home network depends largely on which type of network you’re aiming to have – wired or wireless. Both types of networks typically require a modem, a router, an Ethernet hub or cables, and access points.

MyNetworkTV (stylized as mynetworkTV; unofficially abbreviated MNT or MNTV) is an American commercial broadcast television syndication service and former television network owned by Fox Corporation, operated by its Fox Television Stations division, and distributed via the syndication structure of Fox First Run.MyNetworkTV began its operations on September 4, 2006, with an initial affiliate lineup covering about 96% of the country, most of which consisted of stations that were former affiliates of The WB and UPN that did not join the successor of those two networks, The CW.On September 28, 2009, following disappointment with the network's results, MyNetworkTV dropped its status as a television network and transitioned into a programming service, similar to The CW Plus, relying mainly on repeats of recent broadcast and cable series.MyNetworkTV arose from the January 2006 announcement of the launch of The CW, a television network formed by CBS Corporation and Time Warner which essentially combined programming from The WB and UPN onto the scheduling model of the former of the two predecessors. The CW would go on to become not just the fifth national TV network, behind Fox, but also the fifth major TV network. MyNetworkTV would eventually be recognized as the sixth television network, behind The CW, but would never gain status as a major TV network.
